Secondary size ingredients for sizing processing

Name of size ingredients

For the sizing process, there are few chemicals required as central process-driven chemicals which are known as sizing ingredients. The output of this process completely depends on the ingredients and timing of the fabric inside these chemicals.

Deliquescent

If the warp cannot regain its usual moisture, the warp threads become weak, brittle, and brittle, resulting in more yarn breaks. 

If the yarn is unable to acquire its original wetness during the weaving process. Hygroscopic chemicals are added to the sizing paste to assist the warp to regain its moisture. 

Deliquescent is the term for them. They also aid in increasing the warp's weight. Examples- Magnesium chloride(MgCL2), zinc chloride, glycerol and Urea(cheaper), etc.

Wetting agents

Wetting agents decrease the surface tension and help to easily penetrate. 
These are also variously known as weighting agents, filling agents, and fillers. These agent acts as Hygroscopic agent and comes as wetting agents.

Synthetic warps require these as well. Because they are hydrophobic, they are difficult to wet using an aqueous adhesive solution. 

It makes it easier for size paste to moisten synthetic warp When the cloth is to be sold in the grey state on a weight basis, this is critical. 

China clay, Gypsum, Talc or French chalk or soapstone, Barium sulphate, Epsom salt, and other well-known weighting agents are only a few examples.

Blueing agent(Brightening agent)

When a grey fabric is sold in its grey form, they are employed to boost the whiteness of the fabric and increase its sale value. Natural colouring pigment in cotton fabrics causes them to seem dull or yellowish. 

As a result, to improve the material's aesthetic appearance, it is usually whitened or given a bluish tint. Unbleached cotton cloth has a cream-yellow hue to it and appears duller. 

The size combination appears whiter when blue colouring matter is introduced. Because blue is a complementary colour to cream's yellowness, it suppresses yellowness and makes the cotton appear whiter, enhancing its beauty. 

Blue soluble dyes and ultramarine blue are employed as bluing agents. Also used for the same purpose are brightening agents. Brightening agents absorb sunlight and reflect ultraviolet radiation, giving the appearance of a whiter, brighter textile. 

Ultramarine blue, acid dyes, fluorescent brightening chemicals, and other well-known brightening/bluing agents are utilised also the fluorescent or optical brightening(OBA- optical Brightening agents) chemicals used for this purpose are Ranipalare.


Deforming agents - (antifoaming agents)

Surface-active ingredients in size paste, such as soaps, Turkey red oil, and others, produce foam. The churning action of the squeezing rollers has alkali foam.

There is excessive foam generation when antistatic agents and wetting agents are employed. Antifoaming substances, such as oils like pine oil, are used to inhibit or smother the foam.

Ex- silicone-based defoamers, sulfated oils, a mixture of ortho, meta, para methyl cyclohexanol, amyl alcohol, turpentine, pine oil, etc.

Antistatic agent

Static electricity is widespread in fibres including polyester, nylon, and cellulose acetate. 

The static charges produce problems in following procedures, such as difficulty unwinding the weaver's beams, cloth rolls, and, in extreme circumstances, fire dangers. 

Controlling the creation of static charge becomes required as a result. Glycerol, polyethene glycol, and lissapol NX are the antistatic agents employed. 

Lissapol NX is the best of these. Aside from that, antistatic substances might be anionic, cationic, non-ionic, or amphoteric.

Synthetic fibres are hydrophobic, which causes static electricity to generate when they are rubbed. 

In many ways, static generation is inconvenient. It collects dirt and dust particles, causing fibres and yarns to repel one another and perhaps causing spark generation. To solve this problem, antistatic chemicals are added to the size combination.
