Noval desizing techniques
Novel desizing is one of the three main methods for the desizing process. (The rest of the two methods are Hydrolytic and Oxidation methods.)
Noval desizing includes solvent desizing, low-temperature plasma treatment, and desizing 2000.
Solvent desizing
Desizing can also be carried out by using some solvents. This is happen because solvents have the ability to wet the fabric which will remove the size paste from the fabric.
Advantages
(1) Energy consumption of the process is slower as compared to other processes of desizing.
(2) Desizing time of the process is low, Higher will be the production.
(3) Floor space area required will be less for this process.
(4) solvents are recoverable and produce no effluent.
Low-temperature plasma treatment
In this process, a carefully evacuated chamber is used for desizing action.
The fabric is subjected to a plasma created by particular equipment in the chamber. The amount of size removed is determined by the radio frequency used in the procedure, the treatment time, and the plasma gas composition.
Advantages
(1) Low-temperature plasma treatment is an eco-friendly process.
Desizing 2000
The desizing 2000 is the combined process of cotton with three ingredients. It is a demineralization process of cotton with Beixon NE, Kollaso IMCE and Beisol T2090.
For this process, use either the cold pad batch or pad Steam process.
Advantages
(1) It is a simple and reliable process.
(2) Combined desizing and demineralization process is done hence, it is the most efficient and effective method of desizing.

Efficiency of the desizing process
There are two methods that are useful for the measurement of desizing efficiency. (This test will give an idea of how much size paste was removed from the ends and give remain paste ratio.)
Qualitative method
In this method, calculate the weight loss of the fabric before desizing and after desizing. Variation of the weight is the amount of size paste that remove from the fabric surface.
Qualitative method formula-
%wt.loss= (wt. of sized - wt. of desized)/wt.of sized * 100 fabric. fabric. fabric
The qualitative test is also known as the Iodine test or TEGEWA Test method.
If efficiency is more than 60% then desizing is done properly.
Quantitative method
In this method, take desized fabric and put a drop of iodine (I2) and check the results-
(A) If fabric turns blue or violet, then it confirms the presence of starch hence, desizing has not been done properly.
(B) If the spot becomes brownish, it confirms that no more starch is present on the fabric surface hence, desizing is done properly.
