Garment manufacturing introduction

  • In the textile industry, Garment formation is the final process after spinning, weaving, and processing units.
  • In garment formation units, All kinds of men’s, women’s, and children’s garments are produced from finished fabric. Rather than, these garments, some applicants for furniture, industrial usage, and other end usage of fabric products are formed in the garment processing unit.

  • Basically, garment formation at a large scale is a precisely organized sequence of various processes. These processes include fabric selection or inspection, fabric lying, marking, cutting, labelling, stitching, checking, finishing, pressing, and packing of garments.
  • In the garment production process, several other processes are also combined such as Basic planning of types of garment, appropriate fabric selection, patterning, garment design, grading, bundling, sewing, stitching, pressing, folding, finishing, and washing.
  • Garment manufacturers also include marketing or selling garments in retail shops or in showrooms.

  • For this industry, the fabric is received as raw materials from weaving or processing units in roll form.
  • After unwinding the fabric from the roll, layers of fabric lay down on the big table. (Before laying inspection was done accordingly). 
  • Then according to the marking plan fabric layers are cut down into the various garment components.
  • These parts are labelled and go to the sewing department.
  • In these departments, the sewing machine combines the garment pieces by sewing and stitching action with the help of the needle and sewing threads.

  • Once the garment is complete, it goes for waking and ironing according to the fabric and garment types. 
  • Then, those are packed according to the size, usage, colour, and trend and ready to deliver to its end wagers.
  • The whole process also includes some minor steps like inserting buttons and zips, attaching caller and cuffs, embroidery, printing, and logo making according to the garments and the company that is manufacturing the garments.
  • The quality control and quality assurance departments are also available in this process.
  • In rural areas or in some countries, garments can be formed by individual work. But this process is very slow and less efficient. However, on a large scale or to fulfil bulk production demand, garments can be formed by various machines and in groups of numbers of people.

  • The garment manufacturing process not only provides wages to the worker but also fulfils the demand of fashion designers, textile designers, production managers, garment shoppers, and fabric retailers.
  • All kinds of textile designs are required in this industry and those designs are the main key aspects of garment production.
